Strange world. Iron Maiden

Il primo album degli Iron Maiden ebbe un'evoluzione abbastanza travagliata, i membri della band incontrarono numerose difficoltà per far uscire il disco, soprattutto in virtù della corrente punk che in quel periodo imperversava in Inghilterra. Gli Iron Maiden si scontrarono con le ostilità delle case discografiche che, in quel periodo, producevano soprattutto gruppi punk, tant'è che gli fu proposto di cambiare genere. Nonostante le ostilità delle label i membri della band investirono tutti i loro risparmi e le loro fatiche per far conoscere il loro nome ed il loro genere. Fu così che la EMI records si convinse a firmare un contratto che permise alla band di far uscire il loro primissimo album.

La ballata Strange World riguarda ciò che succede in un mondo fantastico immaginato da Harris.

Radio Ga Ga. QUEEN

RADIO GA GA

Scritta da Roger Taylor, è ispirata ad alcune parole pronunciate dal figlio piccolo dell'autore, è una canzone sul periodo d'oro della radio e sulla nostalgia per quello che un tempo veniva considerato un componente della famiglia a tutti gli effetti. La canzone, lunga quasi 6 minuti, raggiunse la posizione numero due nella hit-parade inglese. In origine "Radio Ka Ka", fu successivamente cambiato in "Radio Ga Ga" perché, secondo May, registrata suonava meglio. Questo brano riporta la band ai vertici del successo dopo il flop causato dal disco Hot Space, giudicato troppo diverso dagli altri, ed è il primo singolo dei Queen che va in testa alle classifiche in Italia. La conseguenza saranno successivamente la partecipazione come ospiti al Festival di San Remo (a febbraio, proprio con Radio Ga Ga) e i due concerti (rispettivamente primo e ultimo dei Queen con Freddie Mercury in Italia) a Milano nel settembre (14 e 15) dello stesso anno per il The Works tour europeo.
Celebre è l'esecuzione effettuata al Live Aid quando Freddie Mercury eseguì il testo sul ritmo delle mani battute da tutto lo stadio di Wembley, cosa che si ripeterà per tutti i successivi concerti della band fino ad oggi.
